Ketchikan is a city in the southwestern part of Alaska and most sizable city in that state. With an estimated population of 14 000, it is the fifth most populous city in the state.
Ketchikan's economy is based upon tourism and fishing, and the city is known as the "Salmon Capital of the World."

It seems to be the favourite town for many of us, very colourful. Whether you kayak through the fjords, do the zip line in the rain forest or fly the hydroplane you are certain to appreciate this charming area.

Glacier Bay - Majestic!

Two hundred years ago, Glacier Bay was visited by Captain George Vancouver who observed it to be a large open bay, blocked at its northern end by a giant wall of ice. Since then, the ice in Glacier Bay has slowly receded, uncovering a new waterway 65 miles long.

By the end of the day, as we all were in a meeting space learning all about excursions, we look out to see at least 30 seals swimming together and whales… jumping right out of the water!!! Talking about spectacular; this was priceless. No time for pictures though, so you will have to take our word for it.

In the late 19th century, a Tlingit Chief named Kowee let two prospectors to a creek that emptied into the Gastineau Channel. After a few hours of panning, the prospectors, Richard Harris and Joe Juneau found gold! That discovery changed not only their lives, but the course of history and the face of Alaska itself.

Tracy Arm is a fjord in Alaska near Juneau. It is named after a Civil War general named Benjamin Franklin Tracy. It is located about 45 miles (72 km) south of Juneau and was designated as a wilderness area by the United States Congress in 1980. The Tracy Arm area covers 653,179 acres (2,643.32 km 2) and consists of two deep and narrow fjords: Tracy Arm and Endicott Arm.
